1. Day Istanbul – Tunis – Hammamet
Meeting at the departure terminal of the new Istanbul Airport. After completing passport and customs procedures, departure for Tunisia. Arrival at Tunis Carthage Airport and after settling into our vehicle waiting for us at the airport, departure for the Ancient City of Carthage. Founded by the Phoenicians, Carthage is a large archaeological site located on a hill overlooking the Gulf of Tunis and the surrounding plain. After seeing this ancient site along the route, we begin our tour of Tunis city. After visiting Tunis Medina old town, Bab El Bahar, Zeytuna Mosque, Yusuf Day Mosque, the house where Ibn Khaldun (1332 – 1406), the famous historian, sociologist, philosopher, politician and statesman, who left a profound impact on subsequent generations with his unique ideas and methods in the Mukaddime, one of the most original works in the history of Islamic and even world thought, was born, the Ukba Mosque where he received his first education, and the Tomb of the Beys, the graves of the Ottoman beys in Tunis, we see the city’s modern face, French Street and Habib Burgiba Avenue, then depart for Hammamet, Tunisia’s tourist center. Dinner and overnight stay at our hotel.
2. Day Hammamet – Kairouan – Sousse (Susa)
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for Kairouan, one of the oldest Islamic cities, founded by Ukba bin Nafi. Kairouan is the first city in North Africa to embrace Islam and the historical ancient city where Islam first arrived on the African continent, where the first mosque was built and the first call to prayer was recited. We visit the Aghlabid Basins, the tomb of Sahabi Ebu Zem'a El Belevi (ra), the Uqba Mosque, and the Barouta Well. Afterwards, after seeing the magnificent amphitheater dating back to the 3rd century in the city of El Jem, we head to the city of Sousse, located on the coast of the Mediterranean in the Hammamet Gulf and also a traditional center of olive oil and textiles. Sousse's Medina was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988 because its cultural and historical values have been preserved from modern development. Walking through Sousse’s maze-like narrow streets and exploring the surroundings captivates visitors with its architecture that has existed for centuries. After visiting the Sousse Mosque, the fortress, and Port El Kantaoui, a port area designed as a white-and-blue Tunisian-style village with cobblestone streets, we return to Hammamet. Dinner and overnight stay at our hotel.
3. Day Hammamet – Mahdia – Monastir
After the breakfast we will have at the hotel, we set off for the city of Mahdia. In our city tour of Mahdia, the Ottoman sanjak city on the Mediterranean coast, the places we will visit include the Burcu’l-kebîr Ottoman Fortress, the largest of the Ottoman structures built in 1595; the old city Medina; the Great Mehdiye Mosque, a symbol of the city, built in 916 during the Fatimid period; and Skifa Kahla, the entrance gate of the old city. After completing our visits in Mahdia, we head to the historic city of Monastir, located in Tunisia’s coastal region. One of the most important structures in the city on the Mediterranean coast is Monastir Ribat. Monastir Ribat is a large fortress complex rising by the sea. It is one of Tunisia’s oldest and best-preserved fortresses; built for defense purposes in the Middle Ages, it has over time become a historical structure and today has become an important attraction drawing tourists’ interest. Afterwards, after seeing the Habib Bourguiba Memorial Mausoleum, we return to Hammamet. With its pure white beaches merging with the deep blue sea, magnificent gardens, archaeological sites, museums, and the scent of jasmine enveloping the city, Hammamet draws us in. After a visit to the old city Medina, return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at our hotel.
4. Day Hammamet - Nabeul – Sidi Bou Said - Tunisia – Istanbul
After the morning breakfast we will have at the hotel, we depart for the city of Nabil. The greatest feature of this city is its magnificent ceramic and tile products, as well as its pottery workshops and shops selling pottery. After seeing the old city Medina, we depart for the Tunis Bardo Mosaic Museum. The museum was founded on May 7, 1888, and with the richness of its collection, it is one of the most important museums of the Mediterranean region and the second museum of the African continent after the Cairo Museum of Egypt. With its hundreds of magnificent mosaics, large and small, spread across dozens of halls, the Bardo Museum fully deserves the title of "the world's largest mosaic museum." After the museum tour, we head to Sidi Bou Said, known for its cobblestone streets and blue-and-white houses. After wandering through the mystical, authentic, and fairy-tale streets of Sidi Bou Said, a charming town built on a rise overlooking the Mediterranean and home to frescoed cafes, Tunisian restaurants, and small art galleries, we depart for Tunis for dinner and accommodation.
